Donating blood

I've done it twice. Both times are the only occurrences I have ever blacked out. Both times I was worthless for the entire rest of the day.

I have low blood pressure and am a smaller person so I likely have a lower blood volume. I'd suspect if my BP was taken directly after donating it would identify the precise etiology.

Yep, I called ahead and they said not to do intense activities for the next two day. D:

The effect on me was more profound than that.

After finishing the blood I started feeling sick to my stomach and then blacked out on the way to the bathroom. After kneeling over in the bathroom for a while I rested until I felt a little better.

On the drive home (not more than 5 minutes at 35MPH) I had to stop several times at the side of the road because I felt sick. The rest of my day alternated between lying down with my eyes closed and arduous trips to the bathroom.

I was completely worthless for any mental task and could barely walk.

Other people can donate and go right back to work with zero effects. *shrug*
