By donating some of your old videogames, you're giving the opportunity for a child in a hospital to become happy in an otherwise tough time. They take anything made after the atari 2600, and it can be games (even if they aren't working) gamesystems, or even money via paypal if you prefer. I first heard about it here. This is the site where you can find information about the charity. I e-mailed the person running the program, and he said that they give the games you donate to hospitals around the California and New York area. If you would like some of the games donated to be brought to a hospital of your choice, you can e-mail this person. If you even have trouble paying the shipping costs for your games, you can talk with him and something can be arranged.

Sounds like a good way to get rid of all my sega genesis games... :)

Edit: 30-some Genesis games, boxes and manuals boxed up and ready to go.

I collect video games as well but I'll see if I can dig up stuff that I dont use or play anymore. I think I have an old NES at my grandma's house that never gets used anymore.

I saw an episode of X-Play on TechTV when the dude donated a lot of cool game stuff to the Boys & Girls Club of SF. Sometimes, he irritates me as a reviewer.

how do you know if this is legit, and that the person is actually donating them and not keeping them for himself ?

well I talked with the guy, and it seems legit to me. You can e-mail him if you want and try to get some facts if you want anything cleared up.

That's not what i'm asking, just because you talk to someone and he sounds cool doesn't mean he's legit.
For all everyone knows he can be a scammer. For all you or everyone else could know he's a flea market vendor.

Who is he infact donating it to ?
Can we confirm with the place where he's donating ?

Unless someone can confirm this, I think it shouldn't be posted here.

I don't want to sound negative but it would be pretty crappy, when you donate stuff for children and find out it's going to someone elses pocket.

...and you can tell all the skeptics on the forums that they can call the Children's Hospital of Orange County at (714) 532-8473. We've worked with them in the past and thy have us on file.
