Donate to pro-abortion organization as mothers day gift ?

I can't imagine giving my mother a card saying "I donated in your name to support abortion " as a mothers day gift. I'm not sure exactly what that would be saying to my mother. Wish you didn't have me ?

For those that can't seem to grasp it, this post is about giving something like this as a gift for mothers day, not about whether abortion is wrong or right.

Famous children's author Judy Blume is no stranger to controversy, but she's added to herself to a list of people who will be remembered for something more devastating. Blume is lending her name to the solicitation of donations for Planned Parenthood, the nation's largest abortion business.

In a new missive ironically celebrating mothers day, Blume suggests sending a donation to the pro-abortion group to honor mothers.

"Say thanks this Mother's Day with a gift that honors her courage by making a donation to Planned Parenthood in her name. I guarantee you that she'll be pleased. I know I would be,' Blume writes.

"There is no organization that I know of that supports motherhood and all that it means more than Planned Parenthood. That's why I'm honoring moms everywhere with my gift to Planned Parenthood today," Blume adds.

Blume notes how more woman are seeking abortions form Planned Parenthood because of the difficult economy and she urges readers of the email to use that as a reason to support the abortion business.

"And right now ? with more and more women seeking care from Planned Parenthood health centers ? we need to do all we can to support them. By honoring a mother in your life, you'll be making a gift to millions of mothers and families who seek care from Planned Parenthood. That's a gift any mother will appreciate," she concludes.

Planned Parenthood offers to send a card to any donor's mother saying that a person sent a donation to the pro-abortion group in her name.

Forest for the trees.

It isn't the subject, just that giving it as a mothers day gift seems wrong. Donate all you like to whatever. This seems as appropriate as giving condoms on fathers day.

You know, other than there being a "Meet Judy Blume" page on PP's website, I can't find another source for this.

Absurdly biased article. PP does A LOT more than information/direction for abortion services. You know.. like birth control, safe sex, STD testing, pregnancy information/planning/fertility help, etc. etc. etc. Oh man, donating to an organization that does all these helpful things for sexually active people and potential mothers.. the humanity!

Look what Christian "pro-life" abstinence-only family planning did for Bristol Palin.

I saw on TV this morning she's going to be a teen ambassador for abstinence or something...

wow. still not over it?

OP claims real family planning is "pro-abortion" when it actually helps youngsters like Bristol not get pregnant out of wedlock, so they never need an abortion. Unlike the faith-based (lack of) planning he probably approves of.

Granted that is true but I just can't see how I would relate that to my mother for mothers day. This is just a grab for money .

They are pro-abortion.. Pro-choice is the politically correct term because the abortion word throws up a red flag with people. Do they tell people not to have an abortion when they are already pregnant ?

FYI I am for whatever the individual decides is right for them.

Give this gift to your mom, what are you saying "Mom, I'm glad you had me, but I donated so other would be moms wouldn't get pregnant ?"
How is that a mothers day gift ? Your almost telling her you hope people don't make the same mistake as her.

Well, one would presume that one would know their own mother well enough to know whether or not they would appreciate the gift.

It's planned parenthood--they don't simply offer abortion services and counseling for and against abortion, they do more.

Yet, surprisingly, this is how you choose to direct the argument.

Curious, no?
