So 5 now adult black men were proven innocent by science (DNA evidence) but that still isn't good enough for Trump. Why do back people have to jump through extra hoops to get a fair shake in the criminal justice system with people like Trump in charge of it? I guess this is more proof he isn't a racist. I'm bring this up now because most people are unaware of Trump's past or ignore it.

An Oct 2016 headline, (re?)posted today. Odd.

But damn if I didn't miss this news story amidst all the Russia Russia Russia! of the 2016 campaign. You have highlighted something very delusional... anti science and 100% motivated by racism. I wasn't much convinced by any individual news story over the years, but this one takes the cake. To deny DNA evidence, why? Because the original suspects were Black. That's a hell of a thing Donny.

Donny boy has been busted as having racist tendencies quite a few times. It's no wonder he fits right in with the white nationalist.

The CP 5 we're young people, essentially rail roaded by the PD, and later cleared by science. IIRC, one of them died in prison before the DNA evidence came to light.

Edit: he's railed against the CP5 for years. Similar to the Obama birth certificate thing. Once he gets stuck on something, he's as stubborn as someone can be

Edit 2: https://people.com/crime/the-central-park-five-where-they-are-now/

I was wrong, none of them died in prison.

From the article regarding orange julius:

A Trump Connection
Years before he became president, prominent New Yorker Donald Trump took a personal interest in implicating the Central Park Five. Days after the attack on the jogger, Trump paid for full-page ads in four major newspapers advocating for the reinstatement of the death penalty. The ads did not specifically mention the "Central Park Five," but called for a beefed-up police force and stiffer penalties for offenders. During his presidental run, Trump reinforced his earlier position, telling CNN, "They admitted they were guilty. The police doing the original investigation say they were guilty."

In this case, it's to draw attention to a story people still tend to overlook or gloss over.

This is what makes me laugh at the Trump loyalists' "the left are the real racists" garbage... the CP5 had been proven innocent and Trump still wanted them executed. Is it any wonder that Trump is more upset about an NFL player taking a knee than, say, Flint still having water that isn't safe to drink?

Trump is just upset at these men, because: "The facts here are clear: These men were exonerated.”

I'm pretty sure Trump took out a full page ad in a NY paper (NY Times?) saying they were guilty.

Seems this thread is relevant in light of Trump's recent attempts to re-write history with regards to his support of the 1994 Crime Bill.

Yes, as he attacks Biden over his vote for it this (in an attempt to suppress black turnout) should be kept in mind. Not to mention that there is basically no police brutality or excess that Trump isn't inclined to openly support or at least wink at.

Also when he inevitably says he signed criminal justice reform he should be asked why he's defunded its implementation effectively making it almost meaningless.

People should not buy his bullshit here.

This seems like a nice fit here :

https://newrepublic.com/article/154041/hofeller-republicans-rig-census

"Why? No need to guess—Hofeller recorded it for posterity (or some other reason he took to the grave): Doing so “would be advantageous to Republicans and non-Hispanic whites.” "

...

"the GOP operative who had “achieved near-mythic status in the Republican Party as the Michelangelo of gerrymandering,” "

Yea.... NO RACISM HERE FOLKS, PASS THE STREET!

Old news. Trump is a fucking tool, and he always has been.

It's old news that the Mueller report laid out many crimes and grounds for impeachment regarding Trump; but how many times does that need to be repeated before Trumptards understand that?

Repeat it, repeat it and then repeat it again. Beat them to death with it. It has the benefit of being the truth.

They repeat lies until people believe them.

Korey Wise: What really happened in the Central Park Five case and where is he now?

The heart-rending story of Korey Wise and the rest of the Central Park Five is told in Netflix's new true-crime drama When They See Us, directed by Selma and 13th's Ava DuVernay.

The mini-series revisits the wrongful convictions of five black and Latino teens – Antron McCray, Kevin Richardson, Yusef Salaam, Raymond Santana and Korey Wise – who in 1989 were accused of raping and violently assaulting a white female jogger in Central Park, New York.

Each episode is dedicated to a specific stage in the criminal-justice process, told from the point of view of the boys who became known as the Central Park Five.

The eldest among them, 16-year-old Korey served the longest sentence (more than 13 years) and was the only one to be sent straight to an adult prison. His harrowing experience behind bars has now finally been granted the attention it deserved.
