Donald Trump is a profoundly incompetent president

The people who voted for Trump knew they would be getting a disrupter, a critic of business-as-usual and an enemy of political correctness. Many also realized they were electing a bully and a braggart. But they may not have known what they were getting above all else: an incompetent.

Nothing about his performance suggests he has any idea how to handle his office. Trump complains that the Senate is obstructing his nominations. But at last count, he has yet to pick anyone for nearly 80 percent of the positions that require Senate confirmation.

Trump's incompetence is self-perpetuating. A clueless executive is forced to rely on aides who are mediocre — or worse — because better people are repelled. Vacant jobs and poor staff work, aggravated by bad management, lead to more failure, which makes it even harder to attract strong hires

i am shocked that the newspaper actually published this... so late in the game.
it's been 7 months since Trumpf took office.
Trump = incompetent? That's like saying the sky's blue.

shocked i tell you... that the newspaper wasted space on something that others have been saying for a while and is old news

Trumpsters also don't know water is wet. I don't really blame Trump for this. Trump is Trump. Fault clearly lies with all the rubes conned into voting for this fraud.

Most of us sane people knew very early on this would happen.

What puzzles me is if his voters expected any different?

All the red flags were there. The billion dollar bankruptcy, the myriad of failed businesses began as dumb ideas, the stories of how poorly he ran his casinos and clubs, Trump U.... and let's not forget the endless stream of obvious bullshit.

It was all there if you looked, but the suspension of disbelief that Trump was afforded (still afforded) is simply jarring.

To be fair, I expected incompetence, but I was thinking more on the lines of GWB. The stupidity of this guy is truly historic.

Which should also make anyone suspicious of how someone like that still has that much money.

You can't be that foolish and keep making so much money.... not by legal means anyhow..

Look at your 401k after 8 years of Obama and then look at the last 6 months. Yes, he has everything to do with it.

Uhmm, Obama saw one of the largest increases in the DJIA of any president and at this point in his term is significantly outpacing returns by Trump.

Note that stock market returns are a stupid way to measure the success or failure of a president, but if you insist on doing so then the only logical conclusion at this point is that Obama is far superior to Trump.

The problem is that the people who voted for Trump are the emerging proud of being stupid alt-right. They hate the educated or being educated, they hate science, they hate minorities and women's rights. And they're all so egregiously fuck-stupid that they're literally impossible to educate. Personally I hate that we started using the PC term by calling them alt right, I preferred when we just referred to them as neo-Nazis and inbred rednecks.

Elaborate on this for me if you don't mind. I mean other that just spouting some talking point explain what this means exactly. As a broker, you know, someone who works in the market I would love to know what I missed during Obama's time in office.

Incompetence was pretty much the hoped-for situation for Trump (for me at least). As long as he doesn't get us all killed that is. I certainly didn't want him or the creeps he's hired to get much done. Fortunately, he's running against a Congress that basically has one skill: obstruction. Without Democrats in charge, anywhere, they obstruct themselves and Trump. Good.

I thought there was a small chance Trump was going to become more statesmanlike (for him), rely on experienced people around him and end up being more centrist than "Candidate Trump." Nope!

I thought there was a bigger chance Trump was going to be smart enough to work with the worms in Congress to push forward various right-wing agendas. Nope! Granted, they did get a Supreme Court justice into the seat they stole, but that was a layup.

So here we are with basically the same Trump as Candidate Trump, and CEO Trump. A loud, crass, obnoxious fraud, cheat and liar. Essentially, he's what I hope my sons turn out not to be. Anyone truly surprised by this is a fool.

Nothing "old news" regarding grounds for impeachment. The drums will beat until the mission is accomplished.

Not just Candidate Trump, but Trump as he's been for most of his life. Not good at organizing, not a strong decision maker, unable or unwilling to grasp the details, and good at/totally absorbed by self promotion. I don't know why anyone thought he would be different as president than he has been the rest of his life. He's 71 or whatever, he's way too old to change.

The only thing that I find notably different between now and his younger years is the shocking devolution in his style of speech and general coherence. Maybe it's on purpose because he's found it to be more effective but in my opinion if you compare what he says today as compared to how he used to speak as a younger man it's hard not to come away with a feeling that he may be suffering some sort of cognitive decline.

Multiple bankruptcies and a history for not paying people. There was a time in the 90s he could get any more loans. Had only 2 sources, Deutsche Bank and wait for it.......

Russia

BTW - Deutsche Bank was recently busted for Russian money laundering fined 10 billion

Maybe some of them, but he still got 60M votes and there is not that many neo-nazis around.

I have friends, family and co workers who voted Trump. Smart people and idiots. Rich and poor. Rednecks and big city sophisticates. Covers pretty much the entire spectrum.

You would push them on this story or policy and question their logic.... but nothing really mattered. Some flawed logic or #bothsides answer in response.
They stuck with him, or at least still be against Hillary.

Biggest thing Ds need to do is figure out how to break the spell. A lot has worn of already, but more due to Trump's dunderheadedness rather than clever D attacks.

I think democrats should comply with conservative advice to take this opportunity and talk about economic/trade and other bureaucratic policies. Liberals are so smart and conservatives are so very dumb, amirite.

Or we could take your message with piss, venom, and no hope for the future.
Cause that's what smart people do, s@#$ all over other people, amirite.

Denazification worked wonders against degeneracy in germany, but I can see why many americans would hate to subject their friends, and instead propose the power of prayer or anything else really.

Winning the election was Trump's policy goal. I'm not convinced that he has any idea what a President might aught to be doing with his time. I also think that this drives the congressional Republicans nuts. They control everything and have a party chief who has no clue about nor inclination to get a clue about setting a legislative agenda. Trump keeps going back to the election because, in his mind, that was what the whole thing is about.
