Don Jon

81% on Rotten Tomatoes. I saw it yesterday and thought it was hilarious.

Jon reminded me of some ATOTers, minus the banging a new girl every week.

I thought it was an interesting film overall; it had a pretty heave indie feel. The part that amused me was when
JGL was having sex with Julianne Moore's character in the car
the 20-something girls behind me just went, "Ewwwww!!" Overall, the point of the movie is the growth in the main character, and I think it did that fairly well.

Is there much nudity?

Not really. You actually see more nudity in quick porn clips than you do from actresses actually in the film. I also saw Rush this weekend, and I think Rush had more nudity than Don Jon. Also, if you want your gal to go with you to see Rush, just tell her she'll get to see Thor's ass. 😛

Rush was awesome

I haven't seen it yet. It looks interesting...ish. It has JGL and that's all I really care about.

I did see him on Colbert promoting the movie. He seems to have a very anti-porn demeanor to him. I don't know if I want to watch a movie where porn is seen as a problem with society or whatever.

I thought it was pretty funny too. And Scarlett Johansson is outer worldly hot. I don't know how he didn't get a boner in that hallway scene. 😀

That part shocked me, too. I was like WTF!!? It def had that indie feel to it as well. I applaud him for not making this some mainstream movie that was just about sex and showing off hot bodies, etc etc.

For his first outing, I think JGL did really well. His sense of humor comes through the movie and I thought he did a good job with pacing and balancing the comedic bits with the drama.

Oh, and there were some stupidly hot women, not just Scarlet. She did really well with her role as Barbara wasn't outwardly malicious, but you knew something just wasn't right with her.

I thought it was good. It started strong with some hilarious parts, evened out and had some more serious lessons by the end. Great writing and directing debut by JGL.

Definitely an indie/dramedy rather than a straight comedy that the previews make it out to be.

Julianne Moore was, as usual, great.
She never fails to deliver.
This is a drama/comedy/drama. Not a porn.
The porn from online websites that he views is just part of his characters development.
This story is much more involved than the brief online porn clips that are pretty much humorous if not comical.
The real drama revolves with:
The family around the table.
Father and son relationship.
A mothers hopes.

Besides all that, what impressed me was how Joseph Gordon-Levitt, the kid from 3Rd Rock From The sun, has developed as an actor. Was able to survive beyond the label of just a kid actor. And now involved writing/directing impressive film.
I see him as the new and upcoming Jack Nicholson-like power broker of Hollywood.
Maybe in the same category as Ron Howard.
Joseph Gordon-Levitt could eventually become another famous "behind the camera" celebrity.
He is certainly well on his way.

Good film. Impressive drama. First class acting. Excellent character development.
