It would be different and that’s my point. Everyone, even conservatives, knows ABC is a legitimate news organization and Fox is a right wing propaganda network. They pretend otherwise but we shouldn’t pretend to believe them.
There may be some conservatives who think Fox is proganda, but you are fooling yourself if you think that even 40% of their viewers realize it is trash. The best case is that they will say it has a right leaning bias like CNN has a left leaning bias. The other 60%+ think that Fox is the bastion of truth and Carlson is exposing the hidden agenda.

Stop giving them so much credit. They are fucking brainwashed sheep. Once you put things into that context you will realize why they vote how they do and that they are beyond logical discourse.

I’m not giving them any credit, I’m saying Fox’s viewers are unscrupulous liars.

I hope The Simpsons roast their asses. In the past they have taken direct shots at Fox News.

Are they liars though if they are true believers in everything said/shown on Fox News being absolute truth and reality? I'm not saying they're all like that, but 100% aren't liars, just...as compcons said...brainwashed sheep.

There's definitely a large percentage that know that it's propaganda, and regurgitate it anyway because it agrees with their shitty feels.

Murdoch has no morals.

Morals are for people that have to suffer consequences. Murdoch is super rich, the only possible consequence he could face is losing a portion of his immense wealth, and the odds of him losing enough of it to not still be super wealthy is practically nil. If you have nearly 20 billion dollars losing even 10 billion in a lawsuit means you are still one of the richest people in the world. The consequences are basically negligible no matter how big he loses.

I have had numerous discussions with a friend of mine from my hometown whose parents are avid Fox News nuts. She is of the opinion that they are misled and brainwashed but I don’t agree. To me it’s he clearest indication is the fact that when fox tried to stop airing election lies their audience departed for newsmax. That means they are actively seeking the lies out.

I was aware of people getting pissed about them calling Arizona during the election outcome reporting, but I wasn't aware that Fox ever tried to stop telling the big lie. I don't watch it to keep up on their current bullshit tbf though, so I wouldn't have noticed that.

The reason people have these disagreements is because "believe or not believe" is presented as a black and white dichotomy. Human psychology is more complicated than that. Fox News viewers want to believe what they are being told. Some likely have their doubts, but will try to put those out of their minds. Others are true believers. Either way, there is a spectrum in between absolute belief and outright lying about what you believe. It really depends on how successful your cognitive disonance is. People are quite capable of deluding themselves, some more than others.

One thing I will say is clear, it's that GOP leaders and pols don't believe a damn word that comes out their own mouths. Virtually all of them are full of shit, virtually all the time.

Agreed. So now that you are stating that many of fox viewers love the lies, they are liars, and they clearly are doing this so they can feed their worst instincts and beliefs, thus leading them to support what is now a proto-fascist party, wouldn't you agree that these people are the enemy? Clearly as you state, they have no interest in the truth, they want to create their own reality so they can justify their move to a horrific authoritarian christian nationalist racist and bigoted and misogynistic sort of oligarchy.

Enemy or not?

Took them all about a day and a half to just shrug their shoulders and continue on. Newsmax was getting a pickup in viewership. It's propaganda for money folks, that simple. I wonder what it's like to want to be conned on a regular basis. Does it make you sleep better at night?

Yeah I mean that's a key part of the lawsuit, Fox internally talking about how they are losing viewers (and therefore money) so they needed to return to election lies.

In one stunning revelation, Rupert Murdoch, the chairman of Fox Corporation, replied in an email to former House Speaker and Fox Corp. board member Paul Ryan that veteran host Sean Hannity “has been privately disgusted by Trump for weeks.” The exchange regarded Trump’s spreading of election lies following his November 2020 defeat to Joe Biden...

I hope this ends up with Rupert in front of a firing squad

why the heck did Murdoch admit to any of this, even under oath?
Just keep lying.
Lots of Repubs have gotten away with it so far.
Why did he not follow the script and decided to throw everyone under the bus?

Oh wait.. is this like Star War Clone Wars where the Dems are playing both sides and Murdoch is actually Count Doku and works for the DNC?

Fox faces an ‘existential threat’ from its multibillion-dollar defamation cases

The network faces two separate defamation lawsuits from voting technology companies that collectively seek $4.3 billion in damages. Fox Corporation, the right-wing news outlet’s owner, has an estimated $4 billion in cash on hand, according to its latest earnings statement.

“When damages get into the billions, with a B, that can be an existential threat to a journalistic organization — even one as lucrative as as Fox,” said Lyrissa Lidsky, a constitutional law professor at the University of Florida.

God, i hope they pay $Billion$ and get shut down!

If Dominion wins hope capital police sue next because promoting the big lie led to the Jan 6 attack. That should be worth another 1B in punitive and compensatory damages

Murdoch is caving under the huge mountain of evidence. He knows Fox is in deep crap, and he's not willing to commit perjury in a failing court case.

The big tell is that Fox's official stance is still that their hosts were merely expressing opinion, and asking questions.

Murdoch has no morals. He is evil. He admitted to giving out privileged information out about Biden's campaign. This is not reporting the news. This is openly assisting the campaign of one of the candidates. As an accredited news organization, this is a huge ethics violation, and IMHO, should be referred to the FTC. And yet this soulless human felt he did nothing wrong.
But remember, for all the Bernie and Trump bros, since Hillary was given one question before one debate, they had to vote for Trump.
