domain hosting

Involved with a new company. We have a domain reserved. I need to get the e-mail up and runing. There will be a small website in a few months. I'm looking for peoples recomendations on where to park this stuff online. Low cost and ease of use are my priorities. #1 priority is to beable to move it in a few months should the webhosting not provide the features I want. (and no I dont know what I will want, that is kinda the problem)

But I need to get the e-mail up and runing ASAP.

If you want to be able to move around, look for a host with a specific control panel, because if you find another host with that control panel, you can move between them without any issue.

Send me a PM and I'll be glad to give you more details.

Thanks a lot. I will be checking those sites in your signature. What exactly is a control panel.
In simple terms, it makes everyone's live's easier. 😛

It does a lot of things:
1. Gives you, the user, a GUI front end to use that doesn't require technical knowledge
2. Makes the setup a bit more standard - same/similar mail server from one host to another, if they use the same control panel
3. Makes our lives easier - no need to be editing apache's config on a server for routine things, you can add/create accounts on your own if you have a reseller account, etc.
4. Allows for transferring accounts between servers with ease

Not all of those are direct results of a control panel, but it's like a second OS on your system, with a purpose of web hosting in this case.

Here are screen shots of one: http://www.cernax.com/information/cpanel.html

Did you ever find a web host? If you did, which web host did you choose?

As long as you register your domain with a domain registrar such as GoDaddy.com or NameCheap.com, you can switch web hosts whenever you want as often as you want.

Your new webhost will provide their DNS nameservers, you login to your domain registrars website and change them. Wait for DNS propagation and you're done.

May I suggest using any one of the hosts mentioned, and combine that with google apps.
That will give you consistent email for your move, and the convenience of gmail's web access, excellent spam filtering, and the added benefit of calendar features you can share.
I am using it at a couple of different businesses right now with great success.
It is free if you don't mind the ads along the side in gmail.
