Cliffs for the lazy:

Met a guy from DOJ
Looters in NO were shot onsite
Bodies are being recovered with multiple bulletholes
You won't see this in the news anywhere

Story:

I was biking in Amite, LA this morning with two co-workers and got a flat tire. This was my 2nd flat and I was out of tubes so I got left by the other two. They promised to return after they rode the 15 miles back to the beginning point and I began a slow walk with my unrideable bike.

I put my bike on my shoulder (carbon fiber) and put my thumb out when I heard traffic but wasn't getting picked up. Hwy 16 is pretty rural and there's mostly huge trucks with logs or cargo, not much else.

About an hour into my walk a pickup pulls over for me and I put my bike in the bed and jump into the cab. The driver is a big guy who introduces himself with his badge. He's from DOJ and headed back into new orleans. I ask him some questions and he's frank since I'm in law enforcement too and he begins to tell me about the looters that got shot during the aftermath of Katrina.

He says that they had authorization to shoot looters without any prompts or questions. One national guard unit reported shooting 9 in one day. There's no official body count but he estimated that it might but somewhere about 40-80 looters shot the first 3 days or so. The looting has since been reduced to nearly nothing. He says the media wasn't allowed in at that time and that they are in now and finding some bodies with multiple bullet holes. I guess there won't be too many answers for those sheeple/looters.

That's my story, discuss.

1. What were they looting? was it food?

2. I doubt that this happened.

3. I have a hunch that if this did happen the looters were probably African American. We would have riots in every major American city if this became front page.

Looting clothing, from malls and other stores (saks)

If you noted, during the storm photos, most refugees had new sneakers on....coincindence? perhaps.

Not with the level of apathy in this country.

I'm gonna raise up the B.S. flag on this one.
There would be hell to pay if this got out. And it would get out.

Not that I have any sympathy for the looters, but I don't think orders were given to allow that level of carnage for that kind of property crime.

Whatever yourself - I didn't say you were the bullsh|tter, you may just be repeating what you heard. But why would somebody really from the DOJ tell you this? He's gotta know there would be hell to pay if it got out.

And where is the press on this? Your suggesting that the police or national guard shot 40 to 80 people, yet there were no witnesses who didn't go straight to CNN first chance they got? The media is having a field day with the cops that blocked that bridge, they'd go absolutely ape-sh|t for any halfway credible rumor that the police and national guard had killed dozens of people.

How come he didn't shoot you on sight considering you probably looked like a looter, bike on shoulder and all.

That's where I was expecting this story to head. :(

INteresting turn.....I was about 60 miles from New Orleans, on a rural highway miles from any store...I suppose he could have mistaken me for a looter.

Looters might not wear bike shirt/shorts and cleats that fit the pedals of the bike they are l00ting.
