Also, OP, you'd get more drying for your electric dollar by using a fan, rather than heat lamps.

This is true. I wonder where our box fan is....

Craigslist FTW!!! You could probably pick up a decent washer and dryer for a couple hundred easily...maybe even less.

Yeah, that's the plan. It's pretty easy to find them on there for cheap, but will have to wait until next pay cycle.

We're excited too, this place has a gas dryer hookup. Never had a gas dryer before, but I've heard they're much better than electric ones.

gas > electric. Also true for stoves.

True for stovetops, but electric > gas for ovens. They actually make hybrids to take advantage of both.

Here in NM is the first time we experienced a gas oven.

They both have advantages. For the stove top, the instant off heat of gas is nice, but the heat control ability of electric is nice.

Whats the advantage of an electric stove over gas? Seems pretty similar to me. I like the gas burners overall though.
The combustion of the gas creates water vapor.

What is this "heat control" you speak of for electric?

I was in a small village in Azerbajian, and my socks got nasty wet from the snow (in the middle of April), well I didn't have any others with me. I couldnt speak the language, but the lady saw me trying to dry them..she got a bucket and soap and went to town on scrubbing them by hand! Then we dried them over a stove..that was heated with cow dung patties. People do still live like that..what a rough life.

It seems to me that you can control the temperature of an electric burner much better than a gas one.

Though, like I said, being able to shut the heat off instantly with gas is nice. I like the gas burners overall, though.

Man, people are too used to the comforts of modern society. When I visit korea, alot of my relatives live in the country side and don't really have modern conveniences. I developed an appreciation for washing clothes by hand. Its pretty easy actually.

To me that sounds like a foreign concept...never seen it done in my life.

Fixed. I don't even use the dryer that I have.

There's no wash and fold laundromat nearby? I lived for two months without a washing machine, paying some asian lady 5 bucks a load at the laundromat was much easier then doing them myself.

I tried that.

I gave up and decided to wash each article of clothing separately. It's hard to agitate a tub full of clothes.

lol

You're supposed to put them on first.
