Is this a growing case of Wiitis? :)

I've been playing Guitar Hero III alot (on Medium) either by myself or over at friends' houses with my Wii.

However, I've found that after playing for 30 mins to an hour, my hands/wrists/forearm seem to shake almost uncontrollably for at least 5-10 minutes afterwards. It's not like wild movements... they're subtle oscillations.

After playing one song Friday night my hand was shaking so bad that I had to hold a glass of soda with two hands for fear of spilling it.

Is this normal or should I stop being a pussy and just play it even more? :)

I get that when I go bowling (actual bowling). It's just due to to excess stress on your wrist muscles that you haven't used in a while.

If you get that for simply playing GH - on medium, no less - you really need to build up wrist strength.

No pain, no gain. ;)

As ducci mentioned, this is just a case of you using your hands in a way that you're not used to. You could also possibly be holding/pressing to hard on your guitar. Might want to try loosening the grip some.

My guitar playing friends in high school were always walking around with those finger grip squeezing exercise thingees to increase their hand strength/endurance. edit: This is what they were using. It's been so long I had completely forgotten what it was called.

Well, everyone does say that I slam the strum bar really hard (you can always here my clicking/clacking)... but I simply can't help it.

I'll see about picking up a stress ball -- seems like a cheap fix.

Wait, the spasms are on your strumming hand? That doesn't seem right. The stress on your wrist is mainly from pressing/depressing the fret buttons and possibly holding your hand at a certain angle. If you get those "oscillations" on the other hand, you might want to see a doctor.

When I play GH, GHII or Rockband I take a coupla shots of rum. I find I play much better and do not get stressed when I lose online with a good buzz going. :)

I strum up instead of down like most people -- I think that is part of it. So I'm pulling with my fingers instead of pushing

You might want to try strumming with your thumb and strumming down. This is how I do it, and everyone else I know.

Does your other hand get the shakes too?

I don't have that problem but I do remember freaking out after I played it the first time. I played for probably 20 minutes straight and then looked at the wall to the right of the TV. The whole wall was shifting. I thought I was my own personal episode of House for a second.

Ohh that is bad!

yea as others said it's just your muscle freaking out because you do not use it normally and now you are. After playing for a couple weeks it'll go away.

I used to get that after using the hedge trimmer. You're probably just playing really intensely and don't realize it.

to get good you will HAVE to strum up AND down. Try alternating, strum down w/ thumb force then up w/ index finger force, keeping both touching the strum bar

Hows your diet? It almost sounds like glycogen depletion, but it shouldn't happen that fast.

also, i don't think it would be localized to one hand.

i'm sure it's just overworked muscles, but a seasoned atot memeber with weak wrists? that's unpossible! :p
