Just got a bunch of new stuff for a computer upgrade.

Shuttle AK35GTR KT266A
2 x 256mb micron ddr2100 sticks
athlon 1800+
all in wonder radeon 7500
(also 2 seagate barracuda's but i don't think they apply)

When i power up my computer, nothing comes onto my monitor, and after a few seconds i get a long beep. After another few seconds i get another long beep and it keeps cycling till i just turn my computer off.

I thought it would be my video card so i swapped it with my old one, but i still have the same problem. I pulled my rams sticks out and placed them on different slots, even tried running with a single stick at a time.

I have a suspicion that something is broke or misconfigured.

Any input would be appreciated, thanks

your mobo's trying to tell you something with those beeps. check your mobo manual and look for "POST Codes." Match them up with the number/frequency of the beeps you hear.

That should help you out.

tried looking into the manual but they offer no troubleshooting advice... will check shuttle's website however.
thanks.

Any others with suggestions, ideas, or familiar experiences?

one long sustained beep is indicative of memory problems. try switching it out with another piece.

Thanks, im thinking its the ram too or possibly the mobo.... im sure its not the cpu cause i threw it into another comp. The reason why im hesitant on ram is because i have 2 sticks and im thinking how often would i get 2 bad sticks? Is it possible that my mobo has gone dumb?

Go to the BIOS manu's site. They should have the beep codes there. Probably either AMI, Award, or Phoenix.
