Doh! I'm an ineligble voter.. they let me vote anyway, though.

Bleh.. I went to vote at my polling location and they scanned my driver's license and my voter ID card. Both have the same address on them (which I changed 4 months ago).

Then, the machine spits out a receipt that says 'INELIGBLE VOTER' in big bold letters on the top.. and the lady is like 'It says you're ineligble, go see the clerk.' A lot of people there were looking at me like I was a criminal or something. Apparently the machines haven't been updated in 6 years since they showed me at an address I used last in 2000.

But after some more waiting at the clerk, they printed an 'ELIGIBLE VOTER' receipt and I was allowed to obtain a ballot. Yay me.

IMO, voting is annoying.



 
last time I went that basically happened to me and since then I changed my address again and the DMV is supposed to automatically change your voting address, but I havent recieved anything at my new address and by the time I realized it, it was too late to sign up again.

I will go tonight and try again, hopefully they at least have my old address still in there...annoying
 
When I voted in the primary at home, it was just a matter of signing that I voted. No scanning of my driver's license or anything like that.

I voted a couple of hours ago. It was a Diebold machine and attempted to eat my soul (as documented on HBO). Fortunately, I was able to wrestle it to the ground and punch it in its evil smarmy face until all my votes showed up correctly.
 
I don't ever recall having a voter ID card. They never ask for any ID where i'm at... you just tell them your name & they look you up in a book(i assume a registered voter log of some sort) & you have to sign your name.

Rural area though.. i knew about half the people in there at the time.

Yes, in the previous elections I have voted in, all you had to do was sign a sheet. No ID needed. Don't know about this year though, had extenuating circumstances and wasn't able to make it
