doh, I busted my power and reset buttons

Decided to upgrade from a laptop and build myself a PC. Got everything in the mail two days ago, and promptly snapped off the power & reset buttons when I opened up the case without removing the buttons. The case is a Fong Kai FK320, any idea where I can get replacement parts?

The button covers (the part you can see from the outside) are fine, just the switch is broken where they little plastic arm snapped. I'm currently using a couple of big Radio Shack buttons, and have to stick a pen through the power/reset holes in the case to press them.

Any help would be appreciated!

Thought of that, but the break is on the part of the plastic arm inside of the button. So if I glue it then I think it'll probably glue the button permanently in the off position. And it doesn't seem possible to take the button apart without breaking it, so I don't think I can glue the pieces together separately and re-assemble them later.

Fong Kai sells replacement parts, but you'll have to call them and a find out where a authorized dealer is located near you, since they don't sell directly to individuals.

Are these standard type power and reset switches?

I believe they are standard, although I don't have another computer to take apart and compare parts with. Basically the button consists of a square 6 pin base, with only two pins connected to wires, and a small plastic piece sticking out of the top for the pretty little cover to attach to.

The switch is just a momentary on, single throw, double pole switch. You can use any ol push button that stays on while you hold it down.

Are there any small computer places near you? I got a free server case from one near me; I should check with them more often for any crap they're going to throw out. They had 3 cases out for the trash once.
Ask someone there if they have any assorted junk boxes you could look through, or anything they are going to throw out. You might find a whole mess of good stuff.
Just get permission to raid their trash first.

Good idea, I should be able to salvage a workable button off one of the machines around my university.

Black Mountain, That is how I find my spare parts also. From old stuff the local computer shops are going to throw away. I live in Yokosuka, Japan and they throw away some pretty good stuff sometimes(especially in the Yokohama area).

Not all the switches are the same from my case tearing apart experiences. Obviously they are momentary switches but believe it or not they are not all the same especially those that come from propriety type units.

Excellent idea! In the middle of winter will you have to jump start your PC?
