D'oh! Didnt know about the 3GB barrier...

Ok, so I bought two sets of two 1GB sticks (for a total of four gigs). I didnt know until tonight that Windows only sees three gigs max. Well, 3.25 GB to be exact (according to "My Computer"). My question, is it harmful leaving the extra gig in? Or should I take the second set of sticks out and return them for two 512 sticks? It seems like a hassle since I bought them online and if it makes no difference I'd just as soon leave the 4GB in there, whether its all seen or not.
