DOH! didnt get a parking spot, going to be an hour commute each way to school now

u would think as a 2nd year graduate student I would get a parking spot on campus, but nnnoooo I dont get one, I live just over 5 miles from campus, now that means i have a 10 min. walk to the bus stop, up to a 15 min. wait for the bus, between 25 and 45 min. bus ride, and then a 10 min. walk from the bus stop to class...thats like 50 min. every time i want to go to campus!...boo..

last year my friend had an empty spot near campus, but now he got a car....then i would only have to leave about 15 min. before my class

I don't know how they can not have enough parking for students, that's just crazy. But, given that that's the norm at many schools and you only live 5miles away, a cheap used bike (that you don't care about getting stolen) can get you 5miles in, oh, 30minutes at a leisurely pace of 10MPH. Once you get into any kind of shape you can probably do it in 20 minutes and still not be winded that's only 15MPH and is a pretty casual speed too.

Not to mention, There are probably shortcuts and such that a bike would actually save you some time & distance over driving and you can probably park it pretty damn close to the classroom.

The only drawback is the heat and the rain, but, sitting outside at a busstop for 25minutes and walking 10minutes from the Bus to the building(s) is pretty much the same problem.

Is there dorm parking?

Find some civilian in the general area that may be willing to rent you a driveway.

OR

Study on your commute - this will get you at least 1-2 hours of actual reading/reviewing time in. Impossible to study while driving.

yeah ill have to check how far it is local roads...the 5 miles is via highways, not sure there is a straight street

and its los angeles so im not sure if it there are good places to ride on the streets between where i am and campus is...but its los angeles so i dont need to worry about rain

He will still need a M2 classification atleast (M1 is for 175cc and more) from the DMV on his licence. I can suggest a bicycle and try and figure out roads to teh school.

Which school is this? USC? UCLA?
