EDIT: THIS IS A RANT...I DO NOT FEEL ANYTHING WAS DONE WRONG HERE...THIS IS JUST A RANT...

not even a mark on my car, but my license plate holder seemed to leave marks on hers

and of course even though i told her I would pay for whatever quote since my deductible is $500, she called and reported it to her insurance.

I didnt have any way of doing it there, but I am pretty sure some if not all of those marks will rub off

that's pretty lame that she reported it even after you told her you'd pay for it. that's probably only $300 in damage, tops.

Why should she trust you? She doesn't know you from Adam. Lots of people say they're going to pay but never do.

I'm not saying that you're that kind of person but you can't really blame her. I would want my car put back in the condition it was in before the accident and if filing through my insurance company getting your insurance company involved is what it took, then I would do it.

A QUESTION: You backed into her correct? Or did she run into you?

All you guys are a little slow today. I suggest eating 3 square meals, maybe taking some ginkgo.

I've been in the same situation before. Hopefully the OP was responsible enough to get the woman's insurance information. Just call up her insurance company tomorrow, talk to her claim handler, the will give you an option to settle out of pocket without involving your own insurance company.

I'm not saying she is a bitch for reporting it, just sucks, I would have gone with her first thing in the morning and gotten a quote if she could and had it settled and if not she could report it to insurance.

or she could wait to see if the marks rubbed off at least before calling :)

Who is this ADAM fellow you refer to and what does he have to do with this car accident?

No way, that's the fun part about getting in an accident. She doesn't have to lift a finger to fix her own car. Even if the marks rub out, you'll be paying a body shop for the labor to do it.

Have fun.

I completely understand but put yourself in her position. She has no way of knowing if you're going to pay for it or not. She has to spend her time to get a quote for something that wasn't her fault to begin with AND she has to trust in you (a stranger) that you're going to do right by her.

I wouldn't do it. And right now you say you would do it if you were in her spot but I highly doubt it if some woman backed in to you and caused damage to your car.

If it was your fault, then deal with it. I know there are easier and cheaper ways but she doesn't know you and has no obligation to believe you will do what you say.

if it was me, considering her bumper is full of scratches anyways, I would have just gotten the information in case and said sorry and moved on...but I am nice I guess

if it was a brand new car then thats one thing, but you can see a lot of old scratches on the bumper and the 2 or 3 new ones arent much different

I agree with you BTW. If it were my car you hit, I wouldn't worry about it. I'm just saying that she has every right to file her claim. And of course all they can do with the bumper is try to buff it out, repaint it, or replace it.

How did the accident happen? Curious as to how you backed up into her seemingly head on though.

I agree. It's lame. It's also sad that we can't really trust people in general anymore. It seems like you're a good guy though. There should be more like you out on the roads. ;)
