Dogs to me are the best pets man can buy. What I do not like is prissy dogs, you know, the pocket dogs or the ones full of bark and no bite. I mean what the hell is the little dog going to do if someone breaks in? Bark? GTFO! I want a dog that will bite your arm off if you climb through the window. The only time I respect a smaller dog is if they are well trained/listen well. I wanted to know what ATOT thought, so vote in the poll and give your thoughts!
 
Big doesn't mean they will defend you. Our lab would lick you to death if you broke in here. The dalmation would probably bite your testicles off though.

Though my Ridgebacks were bred to hunt lions, I would never want them to attack someone breaking into my house. Their bark is enough to scare anyone from entering my place.

..large dogs are a litigation hazard. many a lawyer collects lots of revenue from dog bite litigation.

Big, big dogs.

Once I get a place of my own with a yard I am going to get:

King Shepherd (same as a german, but 3x the size)
English Mastiff
Rotweiler

Not all at once though.. probably spaced 3 years or so apart.

Seriously. I've been bitten many more times by small dogs than I have by big ones, and the small ones are just as likely to draw blood.
 
I used to only like bigger dogs, but I can see the sense of having a smaller one, especially if it's in the house all the time/alot.

well the bolded parts are true since owners and/or harborers are strictly liable for dog bites/attacks. as the owner of a lab I can attest that unless you are deathly allergic to dog saliva, you have nothing to fear from that breed of larger dog. the smaller yappy dogs, however, seem to cling to ankles and toes when you try to kick them away. 😀
