<< I would take her, but live way up here in Idaho...lots of space in my backyard. >>

She loves lots of space. =)

Unfortunately.. No luck with having anyone wanting to adopt her. =*(

<< You may want to contact an Australian Cattle Dog Rescue place like this:

Northern California Cattledog Rescue

You can also place lost and found ads on the ADC main page.

More Rescue contacts in California:

Cattle Dog Rescue Contacts

Adopt Spot - Bay Area Guide to Animal Shelters and Rescue Groups

Just go to www.google.com and search for "australian cattledog & rescue & san francisco" for a bunch more links.
>>

We tried contacting the ADC place but they said they no longer have available foster homes for her... There was this incident with this guy named Ken Hershey who abused a bunch of dogs and stuff.. Ever since they found all those dogs, they turned them in to the ACD place.. Not all of them have found homes yet.. So until they do, they can't take Kira in.

I just read the above link to the Hershey article... That animal should be convicted, and serve a felony sentence in the same crates he kept the dogs in!

I'm not looking for arguments or anything here.. I'm just looking for help.. Please, if you have any comments about this, keep it to yourself or elsewhere.. I don't want them to be a post where people are flaming each other. I need help and this dog needs a home or else it'll get euthanized.. You make up your mind.. I don't care if you think it's an ugly dog, if you don't think this is a hot deal or if you hate dogs.. All I'm looking for is just help. Please....

And to many that don't think this is a hot deal, others may.. I'm offering a free dog here.. All vacinations paid for... Getting the dog fixed paid for.. And a dog house that's worth close to $100. All you need to do is provide a nice loving home for the dog.

Well it certainly did not take long, there is another post about free dogs already in the forum. Here in Cincinnati we get dogs from pound for $75 adoption/license fee. Hot deal? No, it's inappropriate, now everyone who finds a stray dog or cat will post it here. Donate it to a Chinese restraunt, it will be fed well...........for awhile...........................

Well the wife says no way to a third dog. :frown:

It occurs to me though that all the animal lovers amongst us could help out in some way. For example, if smitjere in Idaho really wants Kira (and this is intended to serve as an example, not to put pressure on smitjere) what would it take to get her there? It's roughly what? 650 miles from San Francisco to Boise. How many AT'ers are there in between? Perhaps a relay system could be set up with different people taking her on to the next stop. Of course, a more mundane approach would be for a bunch of us to kick down enough get her a ticket. Call it the "Kira The Hound Goes Greyhound" Fund or something.

I love dogs but you have got to be kidding posting a free dog here & complaining when people rip on you. I'm sure I don't have to tell you how may dogs end up at the humane society. I used to work at one & have seen dead dogs piled to the ceiling in them. Your request for people to turn the other cheek while you bend the forum rules a little bit are ridiculous. Find a new outlet or roll with all the punches your going to get.

Bump for a hot deal and a good cause. You shouldn't be saying negative things about this dog. This dog is in need of a warm home.

I would love to take this dog, but my brother's don't have room for this size of dog in their house.

<< Thanks guys.. Any help is needed.. If you can help me post this ad up to several other places, I would greatly appreciate it.. We're giving it till the 13th of January for someone to take her.. Otherwise, we have to take her to Animal Control where they do NOT have a no kill policy. >>

She's a beautiful dog, and deserves a great home. But for the record, San Francisco Animal Control does have a no-kill policy for adoptable dogs.

That's what I was thinking. What if lyric delivered her to someone in Sacramento, who delivered her to someone in Reno who... you get the idea. That way it wouldn't be a great burden on any one person and a few AT'ers could get to meet one another in person.

I'm in the L.A. area so if Kira gets this far and needs a lift South, say to San Diego or points inbetween, I'll do my part.

I actually checked out the San Francisco Animal Control facility the other day. I was there for about an hour. These were the procedures.

The dog will be examined and evaluated for about 24-60 hours. If they think it's good enough for adoption, they'll put it up for adoption. If not, they will offer it to the SPCA to take it.. If the SPCA rejects them, they will put her to sleep. If she is good for adoption, she has 6 weeks to get adopted.. If she doesn't, she will once again be offered to the SPCA.. If SPCA rejects her, she will be put to sleep.

We thought they had a contact program that would let us know if she would be euthanized beforehand.. Unfortunately, they don't. We have to call in ourselves everyday to check up on the status of the dog. If we find that she's on the euthanization list, we must pick her up that same day or she will be put to sleep in less than 24 hours. If we decide to take her back, we will have to pay a $35 fee (if I remember correctly) and an additonal $5 for everyday that she's been there.

I love these cattledogs, they aren't the most handsome dogs but they certainly are among the most intelligent, adaptable and least-neurotic of breeds. They?d be among my top-5 most desirable dogs breeds to have. This is an all-around good dog for almost any situation. They have great character. Hope it finds a loving home.
