Hard to take your concerns seriously when this is what you voted for.
I didn't vote for him but America did so we all have to deal with this. Not that our voices will be heard trying to stop losing protection of public lands from the greedy few.

Hopefully those who destroy these lands will be jailed by the next administration.

so you never voted for trump ever?

then who did you vote for?

ever vote for trump

i am under the impression if trump last the 2016 election he would have never ran again.
Only the 16 & 20 not the 24. He said if we voted for him in 24 we would never need to vote again. I am not sure how that is possible. When did you vote for him? And how do you plan to stop the exploitation of this land?

The presidents budget request (note: not the final budget since that will need to be approved by Congress) highlights. I'll try to pull page numbers but the PDF and the documents page numbers are de-synced.

  1. Forest and Rangeland Research (the primary Research & Development account):FY 2027 budget authority = $0 (no new discretionary appropriation requested). Outlays estimated at $127 million (using existing carryover balances).Change: Complete elimination of new funding. The budget explicitly states the agency will “strategically utilize existing carryover balances to responsibly and effectively terminate research programs and close research stations.” Prior levels were substantially higher (FY 2025 actual obligations ~$300 million; FY 2026 estimate ~$331 million).
  2. State, Private, and Tribal Forestry:FY 2027 budget authority = $0 (no new funding). Outlays estimated at $544 million (from carryover).Change: Termination of programs using existing balances.
  3. Forest and Rangeland Research:FY 2027 direct FTEs = 0 (reimbursable = 0). Change: Elimination from FY 2025 actual (1,354 direct + 34 reimbursable) and FY 2026 estimate (1,215 direct). This directly ties to the termination of research programs and station closures.
The FY 2027 proposal zeros out new funding and phases out operations entirely using carryover balances. This would end dedicated USFS research programs and close associated stations, with zero direct Full-time employees remaining.

The Forest Service has provided world-leading forest research science and expertise since 1876. That all ends as of 4/1/2026. The FY 2027 proposal, if approved by Congress, would result in the termination, forced early retirement, (or transfer to non-science related positions) of 1,500 hard working and dedicated Americans.

An authoritarian dictatorship needs no sciences.
That money goes to guns, and the jackboots to carry the guns.
