Dog trained to "Sieg Heil". Owner in trouble

Haha that's hilarious.

But actually, it is very serious in Germany... Denying the holocaust and stuff like that is illegal and can land you in jail. Its not really surprising considering it was less than 100 years ago that something so terrible happened.

Interesting.....

BTW, are you a banned member under a different name?

Do you actually expect him to say yes? 🙂

It was somewhat rhetorical....
Just seems kinda weird a "new" member would have a sig like that.....

Ah yes, Germany, where they limit freedoms and throw people in jail so that no dictator will come and limit freedoms and throw people in jail.

I have a good friend from Germany and they take that stuff seriously.....

Would you agree if membership of Al Qaida was put under 'freedom of speech' in the US, and its followers would be allowed to walk up to family members of those killed and laugh in their faces, telling them they'd be next? That's about what neonazis giving the Hitler salute would mean to survivors of the Holocaust.

As long as no violation of US law had occured (violence) and the person was a citizen of the US none of the things you listed would be a prosecutable offense. Are you argueing that they should be?

I couldn't have said it better myself.

But don't worry. There will be a leftist along any moment to defend the lack of civil rights in Germany.

Skyclad, I'm an American. That means more than just being born here. I belive that if you want to say that, you should be able to. As long as the exercising of your rights doesn't infringe on my rights, you can say or do what you want. I don't like, but I know I'm free to leave (or just tell you off).

lol

americans discussing civil liberties in Germany when in their own country there are a couple of hundred "illegal combatants" who have not been charged and are going to face trial before a secret military tribunal. The same country where NAZI Ashcroft strip Americans from their civil rights with his Patriot Act.

Americans better keep their big waffle closed when discussing "civil rights" in other countries.

No irony. None of those are American citizens.

And if I'm not mistaken, a majority in the US now oppose many parts of the Patriot Act.

How many oppose the lack of free speech in Germany?

At any rate, changing the subject does not win the argument. How do you feel about the German law?

oh I get it,

It's OK to mess with the civil right of other nationalities. If I remember correctly there is a British citizen in Guantanamo.
Fry the bastard, he's not american, no rights for him

get a grip

and about the German free speech thing, belief me, most Germans favour the law that prohibits NAZI symbols

I just called over the German exchange student and had him read through this - he says that their country has lots of ludicrous laws like that. Germany is attempting to forget about Hitler. Most WW2-era games, movies, etc. are banned and they spend maybe 10 minutes teaching it in school. Quite ironic if you ask me.

I'm sure most Americans wouldn't even find Germany on a map ...

hell there was a National Geographics study a while back that showed that a significant portion of americans aged 18-24 couldn't even find their own country on a map

go figure
