Dog Starved.... Ate rocks to ease hunger

Goddamnit. The courts don't care because it's only an animal. This B!tch should be stoned with the rocks out of her dog's stomachs.

I can't believe people like this only get a year in jail. They should recieved like 10 years in jail or be shot.
Hyperbole FTL!

Yes, animals are cool and all, but the starving of one does not necessitate Capital Punishment, no matter how worthless the owner maybe.

Agreed. I could see being a bit harsher...i.e. 2 or 3 years, but, AFAICT, this was not direct malicious torture, just gross neglect, which is somewhat less bad.

While I agree that the punishment for abusing animals should be VERY severe, I can't see spending that kind of money on incarcerating someone for that long. We need to go back to chain gangs to make them earn their keep.

wow.

a neighbor of mine when I was little had a black lab that would eat stones, even though it was (very) well fed. It got to the point where whenever she stopped eating, they'd just call the vet an schedule another surgery.

she also had a thing about carrying larger rocks around in her mouth. it was wierd.

You're not a particularly "stable" individual, are you?

If I was in the Long Island area, I'd go kick some a$$ :|

I bet doggy misses her sister, too. Theirs emotions are so much more complex than people give them credit for.

Just Animal Cruelty really ticks me off and how the law is so weak about it. An example needs to be made.

Humans and animals are not on the same level, no matter how you look at it.

That's true, but in Western societies we do accord many animals with some basic rights, such as the right not to be tortured or grossly maltreated. It is illegal in most parts of the USA I would imagine to starve a dog (or horse or cow) to death.

Hopefully someone decent will adopt this dog. From the article it sounds like she has a lovely temperament, she will make someone a very loyal and loving companion no doubt. Isn't it amazing that a dog could be put through a situation like that, and yet still remain friendly and loving towards human beings.
