i am not one of those peta nuts who thinks that animals = humans, and that they deserve the same rights as us, however, if that guy got the death sentance, I wouldn't mind.

I read in our paper last week that this guy went to his ex-girlfriends house while she was at work, tied her 6 year old Boxer to the back of his truck and drug it a mile down the road, then kicked it into the ditch to die. The police said there was blood trail 9 tenths of a mile.

Animal cruelty is a misdemeanor in our state but they charged him with everything else they could, grand larceny (stealing the dog),reckless driving (dragging the body), and dumping on private property (throwing the body in the ditch).

That made me sick to read it.

I agree that this guy is a POS but does he deserve all that possible prison time? I think a very hefty fine, like $10,000 is more appropriate here. After all, it is a dog!
Real human beings are dying around the world and we should put our focus more on that issue. We are so god damn spoiled in the US!

In any case, the guy deserves punishment.

Aihyah> But that is the point. We have to judge defendents on what they did, not on speculation of what they'll do.
I've known people that broke their house Bird's neck because they had a bad day and so on. But those people would never kill a human being because they respect human life on a whole nother level. I think perhaps they should of made him cook and eat the dog if he killed it. That what we do with animals all day any way!
