My dog has this spot on her back which she had in other part of her body but they went away. the skin looks dry. If I put A and D ointment on my dogs dry skin will it help of is A and D ointment bad. She wont lick it Ill make sure of that. Its safe to put on Babbie's so I think its OK what are your thoughts.

Update (7-31-06)

Her biopsy results came back and she has

cyclic follicular dysplasia

Poodle is listed in that list

It could be a rash. It could be some reason that the dog is licking it repeatedly. It could be mange. It is difficult to guess from the description. Could you take a picture and post it?

My dog has that and it's from some sore of environmental allergies. We have to take her to the vet for monthly steroid shots to keep them at bay.

It's a lot worse at some times of the year than others.

Probably allergies. Steroids can have a bad effect on some dogs. We have used over the counter antihistimines on our pets.

Call a vet FTW?

you could try to give the dog a bath and look for some sort of DOG lotion at your local Pet super-chain.

Sounds like an allergy our dog had to advantage. It also could be an allergy to a soap or cleaner you are using on the dog.

We don't know exactly a allergic reaction to something I think she just develops it by here self. the spots can last up to a year and the hair will grow back darker or lighter. We went to a vet and they gave use this spray but it not working so that why I was asking about A and D ointment

we went to a different vet and they did all these test they scraped some of it and found nothing. so now our dog will be going to a vet dermatologist and we will see what they say.

it not an allergic reaction to flea bites we think it might be the rabbis shot. b/c after that is when these patched of non growing hair apierd and I can give you a pic but It wont be anywhere near clear enough to see but i will try.
He shampoo is A puppy formula for sensitive skin and was not causing this when we got her.

Here are the pics We just put the spray on here so the skin look a bit reflective :p
Pic 1
Pic 2

ill take pictures later when its not so reflective

When my dog had mange when she was a puppy, it was a lot tighter of areas that it affected her. I haven't had any experience with something that complete with my dog. Good luck.
