Not sure if you can see the attached link, but was amazed how similar your dog looked like to ours! They must be twins! The rescue shelter def told me ours had pointer in him! But his obsession with rabbits and voles cued me to thinking he had some JRussell and I googled and found other dogs that look somewhat similar

Welcome!

Your dog does have some similarities with the one in the original post.

this.

I keep wanting to do this for me mutt that we think is lab/pit

:hmm:

The necro aspect of this thread annoys me, but I do highly appreciate it now as I had never seen that link, and never thought to even look up the idea of doggy dna testing.

And I'm amazed at the price. That's actually within my "I'm so damn curious I might just pay for it because I'd love to know" - even when a particular dog in question is my parents' dog as opposed to my own. I did help raise her for the first half of her life, and I love the pooch. We've been told, and also suspect, certain breeds, but definitive answers and knowing if one or two suspected breeds are in there would go a long way. Heck, it might help address some minor behavioral quirks if we know the breeds, because there might be breed-based behaviors that have specific training approaches that we haven't been able to identify.

Here's the gist:

Wife and I picked this guy up from the pound, he's awesome:
  • shelter says he's a 9-month old Spaniel mix
  • He is extremely smart and energetic
  • He points
  • He's smaller (22 pounds)
  • He is very well mannered around people [/QUOTE}
Sounds like you have a wonderful dog. (If you can give him enough exercise.)

To me, it looks like you've got a Jack Russel mix.

And ever since I took care of a friend's Jack Russel for the summer, I've been very impressed by the breed.

Mine bit:

  • Two cops that came to my door
  • The SIU Women's athletic director
  • My little brother
  • Almost bit an Illinois gubernatorial candidate.
I loved that dog. That dog had heart.
