doesn't the whole idea of bars/pubs go against legality?

Is this "public intoxication" thing a US thing? Pretty sure here in Canada if you go to a bar and drink it would be 100% acceptable to walk home, take a cab or bus or otherwise be in public. Then again I don't imagine pedestrians have to take part of ride programs so the odd of being caught is probably ridiculously slim.

If you're smashed and walk home in a mostly straight line, you're probably okay.

Puke on or in (Spalding!) someones car and "public intoxication" is something to charge you with.

It's always bugged me that it's (mostly) illegal to deliver alcohol to a residence.

Probably varies a lot between states.[/QUOTE
LOL, me and my room mates lived across the street from a pizza place that delivered, including quarts of beer. We would often order a small cheese pizza, and 6 quarts of beer. The delivery man never asked for ID's. This was right next to SDSU and we were around 17, 18 at the time, '71 or '72.

Here in NC, the State will sell you the bottle of booze, and then arrest you for drinking what they just sold you.

If you want crazy laws, Indiana doesn't let you buy beer or cars on Sunday. But get this, it's legal to go to a bar and drink on sunday. Not crazy enough? In Indiana on Sunday it's legal to go to a brewery and carry out booze.

Illegal to buy booze on sunday? Yes, unless it's craft beer. That's Indiana law.

ya bro we need a because Indiana meme

Im surprised there arent sodomy laws and mandatory inbreeding

This thread is pointless. The trick to getting away from the cops when you're drunk is to drive really fast so they can't catch you.

My friend has told me that when people have pulled into his gas station for fuel he has seen open beer containers in their cup holder.

People are crazy especially since Jersey has one of the strictest dwi laws in the country. Not surprising since many of our tourist are from Philadelphia.

Took me forever to understand this post. Then I remembered people are still paid to pump gas in Jersey.

Unless you are beyond shit faced and can't physically function properly or causing trouble while drunk there is no reason to worry about getting arrested for a PI.

If municipalities were really serious about D&D they would zone out parking lots for bars.

There's an odd law here, only for strip bars though, but basically if you want to build one there needs to be enough parking spaces for the number of people the building hold. I guess the idea is that if people are drunk they leave their cars overnight. But oddly, it's only for strip bars. We had a strip bar before but it got replaced with Future Shop, which got renamed to Best Buy. Suposedly the girls at that joint were anything but a best buy. 😛

yeah, living here all my life, I thought it was normal and never thought twice about it. There was a vote recently to allow liquor sales on Sunday but got voted down.

Even the cash registers won't allow it, I once tried to buy some booze back when I was 21, that looked like a purple drink of some kind, the register lady didn't realize what it was and tried to check me out but the register caught it....damn. Then she got all pissed at me, twas worth a try.

If you try hard enough sure. No public intox law here. Just don't drink it in public or drink and drive and your good to go.
