Looks nice, and I'm sure will ride better than anything I've ever been in.

I hope your commutes and travels are glorious.

It is fantastic on smooth roads. On bad roads it is about what you would expect of a powerful two door coupe with sport suspension and 18" wheels.

Our CLS gives a much better ride.

The roads around here aren't too bad though. My drive to work this morning was very nice.:wub:

"ride better" was the wrong term, "handle better" or "handle more surely" would be more accurate :)

unwanted opinion injection... I think it was an irresponsible decision to buy and that it would be much smarter to stick that money into an index fund or if buying a fancy car is a must,to buy a car which depreciates less, but, it is your money to do with as you please... I just hope that it doesn't come and bite you back in the ass 30 years into the future....

Meh, I was looking at $60-70k SUVs. I think a $42k coupe was the more responsible decision. I guess I could have purchased another Camry or bought out the lease on the Lexus. o_O

While I generally agree we don't know Jules' complete financial situation. Seems like he and his wife are doing just fine, retirement included. Or, maybe he's one of those people that isn't counting down the days until he can afford to retire.

My plan is to retire early. I could probably retire right now if I wanted to.

I'm looking at a 2014 E550 Coupe with 22k miles on it. They're asking $43k for it. They also just got a 2014 E350 Coupe with only 16k miles on it that I could purchase for $5,000 less. Insurance cost difference is negligible. The 550 is white with black leather and the 350 is dark blue with beige interior (which I rather like).

Anyway, should I get the E550? Or be more responsible and save gas and the planet by getting the E350? I haven't driven either one yet.

The blue one looks exactly like this car.

Shit, there goes the practical car. We might be a two Mercedes family soon.

Update: We drove 3 different cars. Started out with the blue E350 which wasn't presented very well. There were swirl marks all over the paint and the interior looked like it may have been vacuumed but that was it. There was some hand residue on the steering wheel and over other parts of the control surfaces. The engine felt busy and while it had adequate power it didn't thrill me at all.

Next up was the E550 Coupe. Man, this car is nice. White with black leather interior, ash wood trim and that panoramic moonroof. It has the sport package and the Premium 1 package along with keyless go. Like the E350, it needed a good wipe down of the interior... not sure who is prepping these cars but they aren't doing a very good job.

I was sold on the E550 but they had a nice looking E350 Cabriolet so we took that for a drive too. This one was white with tan leather and it looked fantastic. We put the top down and off we went. To be honest, I like convertibles and I have owned one before which is probably why I was so hesitant with this one. I really noticed how much more flex there was in the chassis. It was really noticeable and while my wife and I both liked the top down, wind in the hair ride, I would be living with this car on a daily basis and the squeaks and rattles that would inevitably develop would drive me nuts. My wife really liked the convertible actually. I think she was a little disappointed that I didn't like it more but I've lived with cars like this long term and it gets tiring. Plus, you never put the top down as much as you think you're going to.

All the cars we drove were 2014 models and they all had between 17-22k miles on them. The E550 had a little over 22k miles on it as did the Cabriolet.

Anyway, we got them to knock $1500 off the E550 and bought the car. Big fan of the AMG wheels.
