I was just talking on the phone to a friend of mine who lives in Tokyo. She was calling in between classes, explaining she was about to go to lunch. I asked what time it was, she's like "11:40 AM". Heh, it's 9:40 PM here, and it's lunchtime tomorrow there. lol

Well thanks for the obvious, guys. It's not like I didn't expect it, but it's just really weird when you sit down and think about it.

It's always 5 O'clock or 4:20 somewhere in the world too, depending on your preference. Well, maybe not, but I have to tell myself something eh? :D

sometimes it's kinda cool, we have a development office in Hong Kong so we can work on something during the day in the U.S., then they work on it during our night. The communication lag is a PITA though.

Uh, no. My mind is fully capable of understanding timezones; therefore, there's no "mind blowing" involved.

It's because of this reason that people work odd hours to accommodate others in different timezones. To your question, no it doesn't blow my mind.

Well, of course understanding something means it can no longer be neat.

um, no. you would not be time traveling. you would be teleporting. and it's not really "tomorrow" in another part of the world on a universal time scale. it's not like she's eating lunch "in the future". she's eating lunch right now. "right now" just happens to be called 9pm in your city and 12pm in hers. it just so happens that mankind, in an attempt to standardize markets, trade, agriculture, etc. decided to develop time zones.

not mind blowing.

Your mind is blown because there are different time zones?

I wouldn't call it mind blowing but I still find it "neat" on occasion. I play DAoC for an hour or two after I get home at night (usually around 4am CST) and most of the guys I talk to are Australian. To move to the other side of the world, the majority of my relatives outside my immediate family are in England so to talk to them we have to plan around timezones. I guess what I'm saying is that I don't think it's mind blowing but I occasionally find it interesting.

hmmm, we weren't.

Jesus Christ guys, lighten up. I mention that I was talking to a friend in Tokyo and when I was reminded of the huge time difference it was really neat. You all come in here like "what, you're amazed that there are different time zones?"

Fvcking Christ...
