NEF comes from a member whose nick was &quot;NEF&quot;. He started out by posting &quot;testing&quot; about 25 times in a row, thenceforth (<--good word, don't you think) the term &quot;NEF&quot; was applied to all those who would post useless things, though it is generally reserved for people who post irrelevant replies to a thread or people who do what bobtist did as an illustration. Windogg had a great post about the origin of &quot;NEF&quot; a week or so back, but I'm too lazy to do a search and link you to that thread. :)
