if they break one law, smoking dope. whats to stop them from breaking another, stealing from employer. pot heads arent really known for being the most honest of people
the affects from pot aren't nearly as long as affects from meth/cocaine depending on the user. Its these people that take their meth and then 12 hours later come into work acting like a fvcking idiot.
And with accidents, my company requires you to get drug tested within 24 hours. They'd prefer you get drug tested the same day, but sometimes that isn't a possibility.

the reason i want the drug testing to take place is so that when people are acting shady we can test them on the spot or soon there after. so yes it would still be affective for the hardcore users

Not only that, but it wasn't even made illegal because of possible dangers. It was a race issue.

Those tweekers just have to stay off meth for a couple of days while they're applying to your hospitality job to pass your drug tests. It wouldn't screen out most cocaine/meth users.
I don't have a problem with this kind of drug testing. If you're operating heavy equipment, it's one thing. Especially when you're dealing with liability issues with accidents. But a pre-employment screening for a hospitality job? Give me a break.
I got this job and was asked to take a drug test upon completing 2 hours of interviews/testing. I had two days to take it. The problem was it was a hair test and I had been in Amsterdam a couple of months earlier.
So I found this method of passing on a forumt hat involved washing your hair with vinegar, then liquid Tide, then pimple cream. Apparently it worked, maybe for about 85% of the people who responded. So I do this to myself a few times the day of the test.
I have a buzz cut and thought that since they need a certain length of hair for the test, there was a possibility that I would not have long enough hair anywhere on my body. I trimmed my armpits really short and I don't have chest hair.
So I go in for the test, all prepared, and the first thing they tell me is that they're going for my armpits. So the lady shaved both of my armpits. I failed the test but got another job a week later, that piss tested me and I passed. Took it at the same place that I failed at a week earlier.
Cliffs:

2) Trimmed body hair, already had a buzz cut

ok well besides this pointless bickering what im trying to say is this. I don't like people who take drugs and let it affect their performance at work. and I'd prefer some sort of screening process. And fail that. On the spot testing at the discretion of the company.

Mine takes an annual Urine Sample for illegal stuff, but smoking is allowed outside the compound.

This is what I assumed.
There are three reasons why your bosses haven't implemented drug screenings and spot checks: 1). your proposal would be very expensive. 2). it would dramatically reduce the labor pool they could access and raise labor costs. 3). State law at most forces them to drug screen your shuttle bus drivers or any other job that includes driving in its position description.
#2 is actually a big deal. I really doubt you could properly staff a large kitchen and server crew with drug screening.
You couldnt be more right. We have some weird ass program where we get people from Brazil to live and work at the hotel. We are so desperate for people its pathetic.
And yes it would be very expensive.
But it doesnt mean i cant wish for it to get rid of some of these people...
