Does your state have any special holidays

So growing up I loved Patriots Day. It's the 3rd monday in April and celebrates the start of the American Revolution. The Red Sox play a morning game (it literally starts at like 10), the boston marathon occurs, and schools are closed. To this day I have not worked or gone to school EVER on a Patriots Day. Mainly because state schools are closed, and tons of businesses here are too. Massachusetts (and Maine, which was once a part of MA) are the only two states to celebrate this. Boston also has evacuation day, so there's even a city specific one.

Are there any other state specific holidays out there?

South Carolina observes Confederate Memorial Day the second Monday in May; originally May 10th (the anniversary of Stonewall Jackson's death in 1863).

In general, holidays and festivals are much bigger deals in older cities. Arizona has absentee landlord day but it lasts 365 days a year.
I used to love all the festivals back in Minnesota.

In Pennsylvania we have "Glad we're not New Jersey Day." It's every single day of the year. No one gets off from school or work, it's not necessary. We're just damn glad we're not New Jersey.

Hawaii (official state holidays)
- Prince Jonah Kuhio Kalanianaole Day (26th of March)
- King Kamehameha I Day (June 11th)

We have Nevada Day on October 31st - which while it is the state birthday it would make more sense if it were nov 1st to get the day off...

Oh that's great! Here in NJ we celebrate "buying alcohol from privately owned businesses that don't price gouge." We celebrate it by drinking reasonably priced beer and tossing quoits.
