My girlfriend and almost always share when we go out to eat. I'll eat half of hers and she'll eat half of mine. Gives us more variety that way.

A lot of times, we talk about what we're both going to order and neither of us has our own dish. Both dishes belong to us. Other times, we each get our own thing and we still share.

Mike,

She doesn't want to order her own fries because to do such would make her feel piggish. There are times when one has a taste for fries but eating an entire order wouldn't be appropriate.

My suggestion, one that we use here, order the large size of things like fries, then you can split them. Alternatively, plan your order with sharing in mind, each of you ordering something that the other would like to eat.

Sharing different dishes gives you both a bigger variety of tastes and is a big part of the fun in dining out IMHO.

Pretty much. Seems to me most women, despite knowing that you don't care how much they eat, want to eat less so that they don't come off as piggish or whatever.

Like what Tom Leykis says, eat dinner before you actually go out to dinner on a date and order something small like a salad and the woman will NEVER order more food than you. I've tried it and it's worked 100% of the time.

Interesting. I guess it makes sense though.

no, it's not that.. there are times when I'd kill for a french fry but know they aren't good for me. If I buy an order but share them with other people, I got a few fries, sate my craving for them without engulfing the entire order and without wasting food.

MichaelD, do you like spicy things? Does your wife/gf like spicy things? If not, then me sure to put a shitton of spicy crap all over your food and I'll guarantee you she'll never bother to ask to eat your food anymore. Works on me great, mom is annoyed that I eat her food but when she starts buying TV Dinners with spinach, egg plant or other niceities, I avoid them like the plague and I'm alright with it. Just figure out what your GF/spouse doesn't like and what you like and be sure to pollute your food every time to make sure she doesn't want a bite.

It's called being a woman and 99% of them are indecisive.

Yeah well I'm VERY indecisive, maybe the real issue is that she feels pressured into ordering when she isn't ready and so she orders the opposite, thinking that if she fucks up, at least she'll have what her husband/BF has. If you give women time to order, no pressure, then maybe they'll order something they want for once..

ding ding. brilliant advice as usual

Women.

If you guys ordered opposite things, she'd still want some of yours.

Females are naturally indecisive so they never are really happy with what they've chosen.

/Chauvinist rant.

Haha you're lucky if you can make it into the restaurant. This is how the scene goes at my house:

Wife: Lets go out to dinner.

Me: What are you in the mood for?

Wife: I'm not picky, you decide.

Me: Ok how about a steakhouse

Wife: no

Me: Pizza?

Wife: no

Me: Italian?

Wife: no

Me: Tacos?

Wife: no

Me: Chinese?

Wife: no

Me: fuck it, I'm making a sandwich.

The only time I've eaten with a girl is post-coital munchies. We order a pizza and one big bottle of soda. No issues. She cant take my food because its our food.
I miss those days.

I might be banging your wife, because my gf does the same thing.😛

She tried to put her fork in my plate the first time we went out to dinner, and I thought she was crazy. For about 4 months after that, I ordered the exact same thing that she did, before she finally asked why. Now she doesn't go near my plate.

My wife used to do that when we were dating. The following conversation took place probably about 3 times before she took a hint:

Her: Can I have a bite of that?
Me: Yes.
Her: That was good, can I have another bite?
Me: No, I'm eating it.
