Does your old personality ever come back to haunt you?

So I matured from a quiet little nerdy kid in high school to a mature man. Suffice it to say that the new me doesn't have much in common with the old me except a penchant for the occasional game of Starcraft.

I got to talking with some girl from high school -- we're talking your typical 'smoking hot playboy bunny' level of high school girl here -- and she remembered me as "quiet and nice Alphathree33 from high school."

Damn, why couldn't I have been the man I am now in high school? Things would've been sooooooooooooooooooooooo much different.

It may be true that nerds mature into real men and earn a real salary and all of that stuff... but why can't we mature FASTER?

I remember on the last day of high school this same girl went up to my best friend and said something to the effect of, "hey - it's been a pleasure - too bad we never got a chance to sleep toegther, I always wanted to" and then walked off.

My friend just turned to me, completely unable to process what had just happened... the expression on his face was beyond priceless.

Just be happy you're not a jobless loser. Think of your crappy high school years as payment for the present and leave it at that.

Is #2 reason > #1 reason?

This is why I laugh at the stupid jocks who won't go anywhere. I'm not quite the epitome of nerd/awkward kid, though. I mean really, we aren't even of drinking age yet!

Well, there's part of your problem right there. The manlier lads all had cooler names like Biff and Austin.

Indeed. You'd have been known as the stupid 25 year old who hadn't managed to graduate yet, and any sex you had would have been statutory rape. :Q

Ya, once people think you're shy or "non-manly", it sticks with you forever. This is why I have cut contact with quite a few people.
