Does your LinkSys Router die out when you're downloading big time?

My 1-port model does, it sucks, I have to reset it all the time, I know its the router and not my connection. Anyone else feel this?

I have the 4 port router with 3 machines on it. It works great. Have the latest firm-ware revision on it. Never, ever had a problem with it. It's, well, awsome.

I've got the 4 port model and it's been crapping out about 1 to 2 times per day lately? Not sure why as it ran for months without any problems...

I just re-flahed back to 1.30 firmware in hopes to gain the stability it once had back...

I have 3 PC's attached to it and they run pretty hard as my wife runs E!CHO on them all the time...It does run pretty HOT..I've thought about a cooling fan?

I used an 80mm case fan that sucked the air out and it cools like crazy, really cool. Its so cool, even the bottom of the router is cold! But i ditched it, the 80mm fan made this white-pitched noise that I hear while sleeping.

Did it run more stable with the fan? I'll try a smaller fan if that is the case!

Well, I'm dumbfounded...I'll let you know if the flashing back to 1.30 of the Bios did the trick for me or not? I know that this thing was rock stable for several months....It would almost have to be a firmware issue, unless something popped on the board...

Thanks for the info and good luck!

Just a small update: So far, no lockups with the 1.30 version again....Usually locks up at least 1 time per day, so we'll see!

Day #2 with no lockup with the version 1.30 firmware....This looks promising so far!

I never flashed the firmware on mine and used it for 7-8 months without any problems whatsoever. Connection never froze up on me during downloads, and I have a tendency to download quite a bit sometimes (service packs, warez, game demos). I'm using an SMC router now since it has a print server port on it.

Using Firmware 1.3 and I've had no problems whatsoever. I don't plan on upgrading the firmware either. Been working perfect for the month I've had it.

i've been using the original firmware for a couple months now, i've never had it lock up on the 1 port one. I've got it attached to a homephoneline bridge and a homepna network. Its supposed to work with up to 255 computers so it shouldn't be the load killing it.

I enjoy having the router built into my DSL modem :) Gotta love the Cisco675.

Of course soon it will be routing minimally, and everything will be funnelled through my Win2k server. So there will be an actual firewall too.

The $60 bux or so I got this for is the best money I have spent. I have had no problems ever (except when my son pulled the plug!) I play a lot of Q3 and UT, I also DL a lot of stuff too with no problems. I'd recommend this to anyone.

I use my 1-port VERY heavily, and it's never locked up at all. Excellent little box, it is.
