Well?

If you do, how did you get it there? Donate money? Service? Memorial?

Edit: It doesn't count if your name is "Smith" and there is a "John Smith" memorial somewhere in your town unless you were/are related to Mr John Smith himself.

Yes. My mothers family name is on a building in downtown Ipswitch, MA. We used to own the building a long time ago.

EDIT: Also, one of my relatives helped to found the town I currently live in.

I am not sure but if you google "Lagomarcino" there are several halls at Iowa State named after our family. Not even sure why. It was done so long ago.

Yes, both by donating money to charities/schools/hospitals etc, and by developing land and naming the buildings, roads after family members.

when I was in France, I came across a square in a town with my family's last name on it. don't know if there's any relation.

there's a building in montreal named after my grandfather... it's a charity house (part shelter/soup kitchen, part goodwill-type place). my grandfather provided a lot of the funding and actually helped with the physical construction work until he was too weak from the cancer and had to stop. he died a couple weeks after it opened.

Several family members are government heads in Sri Lanka, so there are a bunch in Sri Lanka. On my father's side, there's a stadium in India named after a great uncle.

My great great grandfather has a county named after him in Georgia. Taliaferro county, pronounced ta-liv-er.

a little off topic, but somewhat similar... My dad and little brother and I were fossil hunting in canada several years ago and found a new fossil.... it was named after us!

My family name is all over the place! It's on clothing, leather, many sporting goods, etc!
