i have never heard anyone say labs are dumb

Many people seem to confuse friendly with dumb. Goldens get the same rap and they are pretty smart dogs too. My GR knew the names of everyone in the family for sure. We could had it an object and say give it dad and it would walk over to my dad and drop it at his feet, etc.

thinly veiled brag thread?

My dogs never learned people names, but the late one had learned that the word "dog" meant her.

Sometimes they react to the pitch and inflections of what you say rather than "what" you say. I've tested this a number of times on my dogs using different unrelated words to what I would normally say..but with the same inflections.

...but yes..I swear my mini schnauzer can spell.

Dogs are smart as shit and this isn't uncommon at all, although some dogs are easier to train then others and some breeds are much smarter than others. Some idiots think Labs are dumb but they are smart as shit

Any animal that can get someone else to pick up their crap is pretty smart. :p
