Yes. I am guessing that the OP doesn't work for a particularly large company. 401k is just one aspect of compensation, of course, so it doesn't mean he's not still making good money.
 
Yes, and no. No matching contributions, but my Christmas bonus sort of goes in there. ("Profit sharing".)
 
The match 3% for the first 6% that you contribute. It isn't that great but we also have a Pension plan that we don't have to pay for. So this more than makes up for it.
