Nope...RTD just like to leave people who leave bronco games early to freeze in the ice and snow.

I really liked the Portland light rail system, it made getting around town a breeze.

Too bad the hillbillies up in Vancouver refused to pay the pittance it would cost to run it from the Expo Center across the river. I guess they enjoy sitting in a five mile long parking lot to cross the interstate bridge. It would definitely get more people into their downtown area.

They've changed their mind on that for the most part lately. The Vancouver mayor has been demanding a light rail extension and, with how much good he's done for revitalizing that town, I'm pretty sure it will happen in the next few years. The bigger issue delaying light rail to Vancouver right now is what oh what to do with that ancient drawbridge across the Columbia?

They're building a light rail here in Charlotte, NC. Most of the people that I talk to (including myself) don't want it, but hey, they're building it anyway. Budget overruns and the fact that it doesn't go anywhere useful have turned a lot of people off, though it may be better once they start building it out. I think it's supposed to start operating this year.

Waterbury, CT has a Metro North line that connects to the main line around New Haven and goes to NYC. The ride takes a few hours, though, so it's actually quicker to drive there :(

We have a commuter rail line that runs from north county San Diego into Downtown SD and soon we will have one that runs from Oceanside to Escondido. We also have a Trolley system in Downtown that runs along a fairly long line and I know people take the Trolley quite a bit down there but I never have (I live in north county). We also have Amtrak service from San Diego to Orange County and downtown Los Angeles (my wife did that commute for about 4 weeks on a consulting job a number of years ago-it was worth it...she made $10k in one month on that gig).

Not sure this one qualify as a 'light rail' system but we have this.

Skytrain Vancouver BC

neither are elevateds

those are both proper rapid transit systems.

Did you bother with the link?

It was originally built as a tunnel to get streetcar lines off the streets, rather than a rapid transit line.

They are light rails that go above ground in some parts and under in central boston you dope. The rapid lines (red, orange, blue) are VERY different. But then you would have known that if you used my link that you quoted. Good job!

edit: Heres a pic for the dope. Green line...

eh, i looked at the pictures.

considering the main discernible difference between light rail and other forms is installation cost, i'm going to lump a wholly underground system called a subway into the not-light-rail category :)

The one with have right now in Vancouver, BC is ok. It doesn't go anywhere great for me right now. When the new line they're building is finished I'll be able to walk two blocks to a line that will take me downtown or right out to the airport.

 Yeah, it's mostly kids, bums, tweakers, and state workers. It's actually damn funny, I've ridden it for years (I work downtown) and the poor state workers just don't know what to do when unruly sh!tfaced bums get on and start harassing people. Everyone just looks into their books and pretends not to notice. Almost every day I see at least one person that is story-worthy.
