Does your case temp matter?

My cpu right now at 35C, my HD at 34C...but my case temp is 64C, and I cant feel it, its hot when you touch it. This is not my current rig, my old one. Anyways as long as the cpu stays below 65C, its all good right?

Ya I know, its a Compaq computer from 4 years ago...5 maybe, I had to get it a new case because my PSU died, and lame compaq made their cases so that only their PSU fit, anyways its a $20 case, as why it is a 35C cpu and 64C case....I have noooooo idea, its badly ventilated, I only have the heat sink fan and a cheap 80mm on side panel facing the heatsink.

Temps readings can sometiomes be displayed backwards, I've seen it a few times myself. 35C isn't bad for a case temp but 64C for the cpu... it's a little on the high side. Try cleaning it or putting new thermal paste on it.

Never mind the case temp as long as the whole system is stable.

you should see my old crappy computer....you won't believe how bad the case is....no fans whatsoever in the case. Only hsf had a fan and the psu. The psu was used as an exhaust fan for the WHOLE case...

The cpu is cooled by the air in the case. Thus the cpu temp can never go below the case temp. Unless it's cooled by something else, but I highly doubt an old compaq has a phase changing system or something lol.

Those temps you're getting are backwards, as others have already pointed out.

The CPU is 64C, with the case at 35C.

That's certainly hot, but if it's stable, it doesn't really matter what temps you are getting, since they are often wacked.

You could try reapplying some thermal paste maybe.
