Does Yahoo Mail even TRY to filter Spam?

I have Gmail, and I have a Yahoo Mail account. My Gmail maybe lets 1 spam message slide through every few weeks. Yahoo I get dozens of them per day. And not the clever kind, the "this is really obviously spam" kind with nonsense language or trying to convince me to buy all of my prescription drugs for cheap from A-1 Super Terrific Happy Medicine Shoppe in Vietnam . And even if I hit the big colorful SPAM button up top, I'll get an identical message, or 10, over the next few days. Am I confused here? Is that button actually signaling that I enjoy Spam and would like to receive more of it? How can they not have figured this out by now? I actually like the Yahoo Mail interface, but it amazes me how terrible their spam filtering is.

seriously. I selsct them all and click the spam button...but it does nothing. Ive all but abandoned yahoo mail.

I got a yahoo email address years ago, and before I even really started using it I started getting tons of spam. I ended up never really using it. Kind of funny to log in and see it brim full of crap though

i get a shitload of the nigerian spammers in my yahoo email daily. Not as bad as before I set up some pretty liberal filters to block it though.

I have it set to send anything with africa, nigeria, lottery or "kind sir" to the trash bin

There's more to Yahoo! then it's freaking webmail frontend, you know. It's not the end of the world that you get spam in your free email account, there are plenty of other things Yahoo! does very well.

I must be the only person that doesn't have problems with Yahoo Mail. I get maybe - *maybe* - 1 spam message in my inbox every month, the rest are caught. Quite a few newsletters get marked as being spam, but most of those I don't read anyway.

Most of my Yahoo spams are in the "bulk" folder so I just gland by and empty it.

I love Gmail's spam filter. It's uncanny how well it works. I filter all my email addresses through it.

I don't get any spam in my Yahoo account. Not even in the bulk folder (except once in a rare while). I get about 20-25 spam mails in my GMail account but I don't think they have ever made it to the Inbox.

I actually find yahoo to pretty good. I like having the preview window.

yup, I get probably a thousand junk mails that are automatically routed to the bulk folder every month

Of course they do, they filter out all the spammer that didn't pay them.

A few years back, I created a Yahoo account for registrations and junk. I also created a Gmail account for misc stuff (ie rarely give it out). I get a dozen or two spam mails in the Gmail account but only rarely do they get by the spam filter. My Yahoo account gets like 10% as much and only a few of those get into my inbox. So it's weird that my account made for getting crap barely gets any.

Yes it seems that Gmail has a better spam filter, but the volume of spam I get to the gmail account is somehow way larger than Yahoo, and the Yahoo filter does a decent job with what little the account gets anyway.

I get more spam @ my gmail than I do with my Yahoo account that I use 95% of the time. I get about 1 message every 2 weeks in my Junk folder.
