Does windows Vista Basic include this functionality

Hi, can anyone tell me whether or not Basic includes this functionality?

- Readyboost
- Superfetch
- Affinity/priority for dual core systems.
- Dual Monitor Support (Thru vista, not 3rd party or video card apps)
- App Compat settings (I think it does)
- Direct X 10 for gaming
- Works with XBox Live eventually and XBox 360 controls.

Please, keep this to facts rather than preference. I need to know if it has these features. I created another post because it got watered down with things that didn't answer my questions. The chart on the MS web site doesn't give me the answers to this.

Yes to all except the Xbox bit, of which I am not sure. Basic does not support Media Extenders such as the Xbox 360, if that's what you're asking. AFAIK Xbox Live support is for all versions of Vista.

MS has a full feature table in their Vista product guide (pages 17-20), but do note that you'll need to get the XPS viewer to open it.

Thanks Aluvus. Before I got your response, I found a sales number for Microsoft. They didn't know the answers either so they transferred me to tech support. They said that everything I wanted would be on both Home and Premium but there are really a lot of great media center features if you intend to extend it on premium. The guy was cool . . . gamer type, very personable.

He also told me that I could in fact use Xune or Media Player 11 to extend to my XBox 360 if I wanted to just like with XP home.

I think, though, that he sold me on premium. He actually knew what he was talking about regarding the OS'es. Time to make my decision tonight .

You can use Zune or MP to stream, although you can't get all the extender features (but it's still pretty good). Other than that everything should work, although Home Premium looks to be a much better choice imo, although if things like Aero and Media Center aren't important to you then go w/ basic.

Yeah, I decided to go with Basic. I tried out Aero in the store and thought, "Wow, translucent windows, pass". I know I'll never use that windows flipper thing either. This is going to be a gaming rig primarily. I'll use freeware for everything else.
