does win 7 run on this comp?

P4 2.4ghz with a RADEON 9200 videocard.

I actually installed Win7 (64Bit) on a 80GB HD on a computer Intel core 2 duo 1.86ghz, 2Gb RAM ( no video card) and then i removed the HD and connected it in the P4 but when i start the computer it only loads the windows with a white moving bar at the bottom saying "WINDOWS LOADING" and then it stops and the computer has been reset. the screen showing the Mother board name (ASUS P4P 800, when you first turned on the computer ) loads and then the windows error msg shows and stops and repeats.

anyone can help ? thanks

I'm very sure that P4 of yours is 32-bit only and you're trying to make a 64-bit OS work on it.

And you cannot indeed move your boot HD from system to system just like that. A full re-install is often required.

what can i do to make the pc support 64 bit?? overclock it ?
The CPU cannot support 64-bit instructions and there is nothing you can do about it, short of replacing it with 64-bit-capable one.

And why are you trying to use a Windows installation registered on a PC on another in the first place?

i was not able to instal win 7 on my p4 , so i thought i install it on my core2 and then just transfer the HD and it will work .lol

P4 with probably max 1GB of ram = good for Windows XP

Windows 7 (32-bit version) will probably install fine on it, but it'll be slower. You want Core/Core2 with 2GB of ram for Vista/Win7.

My daughter was using Win7 on a P4 3.06ghz, and 1gb ram. It ran ok for her purposes. It wasn't terrible, but not great either. I also gave her a 2gb CF card to use for ReadyBoost. I don't know hw much that improved things, as I didn't test it, but it should have helped some.

My every day work PC is a 3.4GHz P4 with 3GB of ram. I run Windows 7 Professional. It's fine. I work this PC hard day to day. It's not great, but it certainly doesn't keep me from working. Hyperthreading helps immensly.
