Does Win 7 install video drivers automatically?

This is the 2nd time I reformat with win7 and I keep forgetting about vid drivers but I'm not having any issues at all. I even played HL2 and America's Army 3. It also seemed to install the drivers for my colour lazer printer.

Yes, but it would be better for you to install the correct updated one. But perhaps you are using windows update and it is installing the correct driver from there. Sounds like that is what is happening since you can play those games and not get bad fps.

Do you think I should uninstall the video drivers and install new ones? That's what I usually do but I don't see any nvidia thing in the control panel.

It only installed the drivers. The control panel is a separate thing. Just go to nvidia's website and download the latest drivers with the control panel.

Sure if it is for a peripheral. For a video card or sound card (Something that can benefit from a non-generic driver), the manufacturer 3rd party driver will be your best bet.

There is no need to remove the drivers that Windows finds, just grab your respective drivers from Nvidia or ATI (or Intel).

My rule for Windows 7RC1 is if it is not broken don't fix it. Vendors are not really up to speed with production drivers for W7 yet. If you want blue screens and crashes than update the non broken drivers.
