Does Western Digital let you RMA OEM hdd??

Go to WD's site and find the warranty information page. There should be a place to put in the model # and serial # of the drive and it'll tell you if the drive's under warranty. Of course, my suggestion doesn't help if you don't yet have the drive and are wondering about the warranty for a drive you're looking to buy.

But I think LukFilm's right... so long as the drive wasn't originally included in an OEM system, it *should* be covered under the WD warranty. Not 100% sure, though.

Dell is supposed to honor the warranty if it is a Dell-branded WD drive. If it's just a WD drive you bought from Dell they will honor it. I've heard some of the Dell-branded ones will show ok in WD's warranty calculator thought.

i RMA'ed my 80gig wd drive about a week ago, and i paid extra to the post office so i could trace it. it said the package was received the day after i sent it, but when i check on the wd RMA site, it still says that they havent received anything yet

is this normal? how long does it usually take for them to update it?

*edit* woops wrong thread, but i'm not gonna bump another thread up..

this drive isnt OEM. i got it at compusa and its covered under warranty.
