I can use a check and be just as fast as a checkcard user. The key is to have the check filled out with everything but the amount before she finishes ringing up your goodies. As soon as she's finshed, jot down the amount and hand her the check. Record the amount while she's running the check through the scanner.

That said, I haven't written a check at a store in years. There just isn't any need to with checkcards now. 😛
 
Unfortuntately, yes. It's not terribly surprising, however, because walmart's clientele typically trends toward society's lower rungs, and "those people" are less likely to have the credit or intelligence to make a purchase using a more contemporary means, like a credit or debit card.

You could be close to as fast, but probably not quite as fast. In reality though people who use cheques seem to never have them filled out. It's all part of the dull intelligence that they possess. They cannot anticipate who they'll be making the cheque out to (even though they're in lineup at Walmart), so they wait. And boy is it bad.
