Whenever I check the tracking on my packages it always show that the package is out for delivery at around 7am. Never seen it during noon or even later in the afternoon. So I'm assuming it's just a big wave in the morning once the trucks are finished loading?

I was told this is how it works, not too sure how accurate it is. The driver will come in, get a list of pick ups they have to do and the pick up deadline. Then the list of packages they gotta deliver during the day, as well as deadline for them. So everything they deliver is usually check out already in the morning, ignoring special circumstances like rush packages.

Now I know for a fact that post office work very similarly, the carrier comes in during the morning, grab the letters, sort to ensure it's their route and in the order they like it to be, then haul ass to deliver them before their shift end.

Does "out for delivery" mean it's on a truck, or could it just be that it is out in the warehouse to load?

Around here it seems like businesses are first, then in the PM after about 2 is when they start delivering to houses. Maybe they do a couple of loads?

No idea.

There's a first run in the morning with the packages that are supposed to be delivered on that day. There should be a second run later in the afternoon for the packages they couldn't get out, and the rest of them that can go out.
