Does two rails out-weigh more current?

I got a computer that needs a power supply and I've narrowed it down to these...
-Sparkle fsp300-60thn 300watts, it's got one 12v rail with 18 amps
-Forton fsp300-60thn 300 watts, it has two 12v rails with 14 and 8 amps
My question is which one is best, both are about the same price. Does having two rails make a difference? I heard that Sparkle and Forton are the same company or something so i'd guess the quality level would be similar but I'm no expert...

Either should be fine. 18amps is pretty good for a 300W PSU. If you get the one with two seperate rails, be careful to split the power between the two lines. What are you getting for VGA and MOBO. 6800series and X800s will need a bit more juice.

Depends if your requirements for any 1 piece is more than 14 amps(doubtfull). Also, ps with dual rails usually adhere to later and tighter specs. Research your parts and total the requirements. That will be the answer.

Well its not exactly a gaming computer so I settled on 300watts. It has an older athlon xp, 256mb ddr400, 1 hard drive, 1 cd drive, and a radeon 7000.

Both suck. Get the Xclio 450 frm Newegg (50 bucks) or a quiet Seasonic S12 430 from ewiz.com

Although the XClio 450 is a super PSU for the money that I recommend often, 300W should be enough for your setup. If your mobo has the P4-12V connector to power the CPU then get the split rail, if not then get the single rail.
