Why use trillian? Because AIM is a peice of crap. I did'nt want to use trillian, but when aim decided it was not going to work anymore and peg 100% utilization trying to load, take 5 minutes to do that, and still not work - I switched. Heck I unistalled AIM and reinstalled - no help. I am not going to reinstall XP just so AIM can work for 3 more months.

Turin39789,

There is something wrong with your system. I use AIM on Win 98 and Win XP and I have never had a problem like that. I have been using different versions of AIM for years.

I barely use the other messenging features of Trillian other than IRC and AIM.

I use Trillian because it does take up less memory than AIM. For some reason, AIM on my system likes to consistantly hog memory, Trillian does not. I can also rename my buddies so that they have actual names and not just screen names. I can also take those names and sort them. Trillian offers nice skins that I enjoy.

These things may be very trivial for some, but I enjoy these features. The only feature that Trillian doesn't offer, and that I'm disappointed about, is HTML support in AIM profiles.

Getting back to the original question, 0.724 no longer works for me with AIM (it did yesterday). As for the reason I used it, it's mainly because of the automatic logging, and the ability to rename contacts, so I don't have to memorize 70+ online aliases.

Now that I got that out of the way, carry on with the flaming.
