Yes, it does. You can easily sense when it's overkill and then it just sounds stupid.

True, although I've yet to encounter a movie that does this for me. My threshold is pretty high.

As others have said, it's not the quantity of cursing, it's whether it fits in with the movie or not. If it doesn't and just seems excessive, out of place, and unnecessary, then yes it can ruin a movie for me.
