Does this sound legit to you? I put my Pac-Man machine up on Ebay during the .10 fixed price special.

In my auction i stated that payment would be us postal money order / cash only.. local pickup

I got a offer asking how much shipping would cost, etc.

anyway here was the response I got when I told them I was only doing local pickup..

Thanks so much for your fast response... I spoke with
my client and he said you will receive payment in form
of money order

The payment that will be drawn by client will include
the money for the sales of your item + the shipping
cost and my commission.

This is what you will do for me, cash the payment you
will recieve and deduct the funds for the sales of
your item and have the excess funds sent to the
shipper via Western Union Money Transfer at one of
their outlets around you in order to schedule the pick
up of the item.

I would like to restate clearly that this item will be
shipped to Africa and I have a shipping agent who
would take good care of this.

All neccesary transfer papers will be dully signed by
the shipper on behalf of my client when the shipping
agents comes for the pick up of the item.

I will be willing to entertain more of your questions
that might arise and you are free to email me
back, please provide your CONTACT NAME,ADDRESS AND
PHONE NUMBER if you agree with me to this capacity, so
that I can have it forwarded to my client for
immediate payment issuance.

Thank you

Fvcking overseas scammers. Must be those guys from Nigeria. They do the same things to cars, motorcycle, and other "medium" priced purchases. "I would send you a certified check for $10000 (your item cost $7000), oh - send me a money order back for $3000."

Certified check is a scam that gets credited to your account and bounces back in a few weeks - scamming you out of $3000.

Only really dumb or desperate people would fall for these scammers. I wished that we scammed them back as hard. Think people think....

If you read the original post..it says money order, not certified check.

Also, if it's shipping to South Africa I think you'll be safe.

Money orders can be forged and take a longgggg time to "clear."

well I specifically requested a US postal money order.. what's the most secure payment method? (for me anyway.. no way for the buyer to reverse.)

Insist that they wad up the cash and send it to you. That will make them go away.

I don't think that I ever done business with anyone in Nigeria. I went as far as New Zealand and Australia. Must be very interesting to live in those places (not Nigeria though). However, nothing is like living in the USA, we get everything here.

That's pretty clearly a 419 Scam.
Tell them you want cash up front and if they own a pickup truck or van , they can do their own shipping once they come pick it up.
